Atom Smasher

September 10, 2008

Lab coats, clipboards, take notes

It’s an important day in Geneva

Deep underground, look what we’ve found

the path to Greater Knowledge

Hurrying, scurrying, finger-nail biting

Our life’s work complete, isn’t this exciting

Switch on the machine, and see what we find

Amongst the cranes, tubes and magnets

Is something Divine

The hum of the systems, the whizzing and whooshing

We’d crank it up fully but that would be pushing

So we wait, till the particles, the atoms collide

in such beautiful colours, many tears leave the eye

We’re nearly there, to the Final Frontier

and we don’t even have to step a foot outside here

If there’s a God he’d be nervous. His mysteries gone

Who knows what else we’ll find while it’s on?

Extra dimensions? Time travel too?

This is indeed exciting, we’re learning reality anew!

They all say it’s dangerous, that the planet may dissapear

But hey, that’s nature…and science, my dear

Summer, 2009

September 2, 2008

The Summer of 2009,

John McCain won, it’s Battle Time

China breaks its quiet, Japan turns Right

Russian ships get the Cuban green-light

Americans panic! Reds near our shores!

Surely one shot would mean total war

The Dow plunging, the Dollar weak

The over-stretched Yanks are in knee-deep!

Iran, Syria amassing as one

Israel watches, loading her gun

North Korea’s been quiet for months

Secretly, troops move to the front

Afghanistan struggles, a Taliban surge

The newspapers scream “Will we never learn?”

Iraq’s al-Sadr militia checkmates the King

All falls down, the analysts sing

Europe’s not what it used to be

One could mistake it for 1914

The Balkans unstable, a new carved-up map

The Caucuses ripe for an East-West clash

France evokes De Gaulle, Italy, Ill Duce

These once peaceful nations armed to the tooth

For it is the same old story, the Provocateurs of late?

Russia, China and the U.S.A

Now McCain makes a stand, Putin makes his too

Jintao of China remains quiet and aloof

Will the trigger be Korea, Ukraine or Iran?

Or will it be from left-field, from Germany or Japan?

The world is waiting anxiously, trying to forget

that history repeats time and time again,

Let us hope and pray that we step back from the brink

because the Clash of the Titans is nearer than we think

Luna Sinisti

August 21, 2008

Way up high in the black night sky

watching down on us

Stirring our internal tides

she makes the currents rough

It evokes the lover, the killer

the objects of their lust

Her haunting glow is all we know

but she certainly knows us

Like you and I, she has two sides,

one always hidden & dark

Right through the night, the bats do fly

they feel her in their hearts

No matter where on earth or what the time…

no matter who you are

In the black night sky the Moon presides

over all of us

What are you?

Because you’re not what you appear

It’s not that you are distant,

It’s because you’re alive, I fear

Je veux être librement
librement comme les feuilles

soufflant jamais qui manière
tombant où ils peuvent
c
hantant avec le soleil
riant avec la pluie

aussi librement que les prés
et aussi sauvages que le jet!

Ode to Ossetia

August 11, 2008

What is that illuminating the night sky in Ossetia?

Were the fireworks not in Beijing?

Dear friend, this is not fireworks

The Georgians are coming.

Quickly, get your children,

They have futures, dreams…

We’ve but memories

Of how things here used to be

Tell my wife that I love her

More than Ossetia’s pride

but I must go forth

Lest Ossetia dies

The bombs are still falling

the villagers, still running

Where are the Russians?

The Georgians are coming!

Take this gun

You trained and recruit?

Good, when they come

Just aim it and shoot

I recognize those planes

Swooping and gunning

Thank Goodness! At last!

The Russians are coming!

Which way to Abkhazia?

The hills are too bare

I’d have taken shelter in Tskhinvali

but nothing’s left there

As our brothers do our bidding

and as our children keep safe

far from this madness

We must make our escape

This way to Abkhazia

said the man on the bus

Ossetia’s in ruins?

May the Georgians be crushed!!

Oh Vasily, Dmitry

…My flowers of joy

I pray that you’re safe

My brave little boys

When I think of this catastrophe

and our refugees running

I hope that some day the whole world says

“The Russians are coming!”

A Princess weeps from her tower,

the Moon lends the only ear

Dusk arrives and devours

all but a solemn, salty tear

Far off in the valley,

an old man whispers Prayer

He asks of God a pledge to carry

the burden which He bears

Dawn comes, and he scents it

He can sense it in the air

The Darkest Thing, fast coming

they fear to guess from Where

Bitter times upon them

The Lord says to the man

“You would not wish a share of this burden,

that is, these things I’ve planned.”

Eros’ Caprice

August 7, 2008

Cocooned in wonder and ecstasy at once

under October’s warm evening rain

It’s light… and gentle… as its kiss dances on

eclipsing all else, it swims through the veins

The rain, pouring now, let it pour

Pour down onto the skin, untamed

This mystical moment, burned into eternity

beyond compare, such a thing could never be feigned

Stronger now, it falls, a billion liquid vows

Each beat of the heart quicker than the last

Almost as if to serenade this union, the wind suddenly howls!

Misting this beautiful tempest into the racing heart

Hair matted against faces, brilliant smiling faces

The distant stars pulled from above, sprinkled into the eyes

Taking flight together, to such incredible places

…without further hesitation, worlds entwine

Lightning, the photographer, illuminating the night

No smoke nor mirrors, nature need not ploy

As the wilderness cries and sea’s subside

the rain feels more like tears of joy

Océans de l’amour

August 7, 2008

A breath of fresh air in our lungs

A zephyr skin can’t reach and touch

A swirling haze, sails our minds away

To this new world, here we come

Stars are falling, and weaving something magical

…a certain magic that we’re breathing

We can cleanse all that taints

In the darkest hour we can be a mortal Saint

Clouds are parting

and showing something mystical

…a certain magic that we’re breathing

Blazing colours, sweeping through

painting all we see and do

The child you shine, warms the heart inside

Your innocence, eternal blue

Rooms are spinning, lovers laughing in the dark

The air, electric, dancing sparks

By Dark Decree [tempest]

August 7, 2008

Subdued, immured in such dark embrace

this diety, this tourniquet

Devoid of freedom, peace and space

those parodies of yesterday

An apeture remains inside

Within his dreams, within his mind

The torment that could swallow him whole

…an entity he cannot control

What to do? he asks the night

that bruised and swollen Winter sky

Lost within his own four walls,

against himself he’s gone to war

Tomorrow’s hope, pristine and blue

contrasts starkly with this mood

He’ll dance to the thunder, wearing the rain

and all the while, this storm will rage

Ever-Changing Friend

August 7, 2008

It winds like the breeze on an upset Summer’s day

calling to our wants, to feed us disarray

It’s callous, ironic, never sheds a tear

Love and Hate are twins, to us it would appear

It ignites like a flame, leaping `till its time is done

Some live it by the proverbs, some live it by the gun

It’s the question, the answer

A sweet beginning, a dismal end

This life is but a current, our ever-changing friend
